â€Å"Money poisons you when you ve got it, and starves you when you haven t (D. H Lawrence).† The old saying money can’t buy happiness is being disproved every day. Millions of children and adults go to bed hungry every night. Many are also homeless and in danger of disease and disaster. Studies are now proving that money has a direct effect on development that can lead to happiness later in life. Children who are malnourished are at risk for learning disabilities and health issues. Adults who are financially insecure are at risk for unhealthy relationships as well as health issues and a lack of mental health. Elderly who are living close to the poverty line are at risk for health complications as well as unstable living environments and a general decrease in mental health. Money is a major factor into a child’s future and development. For example, families those near the lower class or even poverty can have troubles providing basic necessities for their children to strive in school. Many children go to school without eating breakfast and go home not sure when they’ll get another meal. This type of malnutrition in children and young adults is having a significant effect on how well those children perform in school.
